The community group Common Sense will hold its annual picnic from 4pm-7pm on Sunday, July 27th at the Etown Community Park. Community members are invited to attend! Parking is available at the Etown Mennonite Church and Pavilion 5 is located between the Church and Verdant Alley. Hot dogs, sides, desserts, and drinks will be provided and there is a playground and activities for children.

Common Sense is a 501(c)3 non-profit who is dedicated to supporting public education in our local school district through donations, communication education, and advocacy. Common Sense has donated over $17,000 to the Elizabethtown Area School District since its inception in 2022 to support the district's facility dogs, theater, sports and club programs, the High School Mini-Thon, and Parent Teacher Organizations. Common Sense has also donated held drives to collect supplies for the school nurses and counselors, Middle School/High School clothing and hygiene bank, and school supplies. Common Sense continues to plan teacher appreciation events at the High School, as the HS does not have a dedicated PTO.

Our monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6pm at Christ Church United Church, 247 S. Market Street, Elizabethtown, and our next meeting is Tuesday, August 19th. Community members who are interested in supporting public education are encouraged to join us! Our next supply drive will be held in August and anyone wishing to donate school supplies can reach out to etowncommonsense@gmail.com.
