Domestic Violence Awareness Month Ribbon Hanging

Oct 2

An upcoming, countywide celebration for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In October Domestic Violence awareness month is signified each year with a purple ribbon; a symbol of hope and healing.

Since 2015, The Domestic Violence Center of Chester County (DVCCC) has continued an annual vision to "paint the town purple" every October by hanging purple ribbons to lamp posts throughout Chester County communities. With permission, the DVCCC has decorated the downtown areas of many communities across the area in purple ribbons. We would like to include downtown Parkesburg this year in the tradition.

The ribbons are a colorful and peaceful way to raise awareness across Parkesburg and Chester County about domestic violence, and the free services that the Domestic Violence Center offers.

The mission of the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County is to prevent, reduce, and remedy domestic violence in Chester County. Domestic Violence is a pattern of abusive behavior used to gain and maintain power in control in a relationship; Domestic Violence is mainly forms of abuse that occurs in families or in intimate relationships.

On Sunday, October 2nd at 10am, we will be hanging purple ribbons, on lamp posts, on Main Street and 1st Ave.
