On April 27, 2025, Lancaster Creative Factory in collaboration with Meals on Wheels of Lancaster, will host their 12th Empty Bowls Fundraising Event.

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. For this event, local artists create and donate ceramic bowls, and local area restaurants donate soup, bread, and desserts. In exchange for a $35 ticket donation, guests attend a meal, and are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. In addition to the meal, there is live music by Easily Amused and an art auction. The proceeds of this event benefit Meals on Wheels of Lancaster.

MOW Executive Director, Feleen Nancarvis explains, “This fundraiser directly supports Meals on Wheels of Lancaster’s mission to alleviate food insecurity in our community. Your support helps us provide nutritious meals to hundreds of older adults and individuals with disabilities. As demand grows, these funds ensure we can adapt to the changing needs of our neighbors, serving them with dignity, care, and compassion. In past years, the Empty Bowls fundraiser has supported the preparation and delivery of 225,000 meals annually for over 800 individuals.”

Meals on Wheels and Lancaster Creative Factory’s goal is to raise over $15,000, which was raised at the last Empty Bowls event. Lancaster Creative Factory is a non-profit organization which offers opportunities to explore and experience the arts while providing the community a creative, collaborative space. Program Administrator, Joanna Spicer shared, “At Lancaster Creative Factory, 20+ artists donated their time and talent to make over 400 ceramic bowls for this fundraiser. Additionally, we have many volunteers to prepare and host this event to support our local community and fellow non-profit organization. We are excited to host Empty Bowls which is a fantastic way to spend an evening while supporting our local community.”
