Enola Low Grade Rail Trail Community Clean-up Day (Martic and Conestoga Townships)

Oct 1

Martic and Conestoga Townships have been working diligently to rebuild the Martic Forge Trestle along the Enola Low Grade Rail Trail. This is the bridge deck that burned in 2018 due to a tragic fire set by an arson. Completion of the work, along with the reconstruction of the crosswalk and trail approaches at the bottom of Red Hill Road will enable a grand opening of the trestle and a closed portion of the rail trail.

This has been a long anticipated event that will finally connect Conestoga Township through Martic Township to Providence Township and thereby open up a continuous 20 mile section of the rail trail. The timing for the completion of this work is late October given the current construction schedules for both the trestle and crosswalk projects.

In the meantime, there is some housekeeping and cleanup needed along the trail and on both sides of the trestle. This will involve general weeding, trash and debris removal, minor tree and brush trimming and some mulching. A community clean-up day is being targeted for Saturday October 1st. If you are available, willing, and able, we’d like your help in joining the cleanup crew. The goal is to make our trail clean and beautiful before opening this new section to the public.
