Getting to Know Plants - Observation and Identification

Jun 28

If you ever had an interest in learning more about the plant world and felt overwhelmed at the sheer variety of plants around you - what we often call the wall of green - then you are primed for an introduction to the basics of plant identification.

This class focuses on hands-on and interactive exercises designed to help you to learn to really see plants and to know what you’re looking at. You’ll find yourself on the ground getting up close and personal, sitting with and drawing specific plants, and getting used to the terminology and basics of plant families, botanical taxonomy, and more. We’ll discuss the basic steps of plant identification, using plant keys, tools, and tips for further study.

This class will be held on June 28 from 9 am to 12 pm. Bring a notebook – preferably with lined and unlined pages for both notes and sketches - pencils and pen. This class will be held in the field, rain or shine - dress for the weather.
