Journey to the Land of the Sweets: A Nutcracker Tale
Dec 19-21, 2025
Silver Spring Dance invites you to join us for Journey to the Land of the Sweets: A Nutcracker Tale. Created and choreographed by Katie Reiter, former Assistant Director of Hudson Youth Ballet, this holiday ballet offers a fresh, imaginative take on the Nutcracker universe. The show opens on a Christmas Eve party, featuring Clara and the mysterious Aunt Drusilla. Drusilla, an updated version of the classic Drosselmeyer character, delights the children with gifts including her enchanted dolls, setting the stage for the magic that follows. From there, audiences are swept into an enchanted blizzard and transported into the vibrant, dream-like world of “The Land of the Sweets.”
Journey to the Land of the Sweets: A Nutcracker Tale features 60 student ballet dancers from 10 local studios. There are four opportunities to see their work: Dec 20, 6:00 pm; Dec 21, 11:00 am (sensory friendly); Dec 21, 6:00 pm; Dec 22, 2:00 pm
The Saturday morning performance will be an abbreviated sensory sensitive show, with reduced sound levels, gentle stage lighting, and low ambient lighting in the theater. Patrons will be allowed to move around or exit the theater as needed. There will also be designated “quiet spaces” should any guest need to take a break from the performance.
All performances are free to attend with the option to include a “pay-what-you-can” donation. We encourage all patrons to get tickets ahead of time as seating is assigned. Reserve your seats at ticketor.com/silverspringdance
