2022 Berks Book Bonanza Sale Canceled

After much consideration, the Berks Book Bonanza Committee has announced that there will not be a book sale in 2022. The decision comes after months of searching for a new sorting and sale location that did not yield any ideal locations to house the sale. The committee feels hopeful for a highly successful sale in 2023.

Organizers have searched across the county over the last six years after leaving the VF Outlets following their 2017 sale. Berks Book Bonanza was able to hold several sales at the Berkshire Mall during this time, including its most profitable sale to date in 2021, but members of the search committee continued to look for a more permanent placement all the while.

Judy Ellsworth, a member of the Book Bonanza Executive Committee, stressed that while the committee is unable to hold a sale in 2022, the future of Book Bonanza looks bright thanks to the generosity of the Berks County commissioners. The sale will have a permanent home at the anticipated south campus location for Berks County services proposed by the commissioners in Mohnton following upcoming renovations. The decision by the Berks County commissioners to include Book Bonanza in their plans for the new location will assist the sale in consistently raising funds to benefit the public libraries of Berks County along with providing scholarships to women.

While there is no set date for next year's sale and collection period, more information will be announced at http://www.berksbookbonanza.org and http://www.facebook.com/AAUWReadingPA and on the "Friends of Berks County Public Libraries" Facebook page.
