4-H Club Slates Meeting

The Mount Joy 4-H Community Club will hold its reorganizational meeting via Zoom on Monday, March 1, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Youths interested in joining the club should plan to attend, along with a parent or guardian. Club members are boys and girls who were 8 to 18 years of age before Jan. 1.

The meeting will include presentations about 4-H and the club, a virtual activity/game available via Kahoot, information about projects offered this year, and details about how to participate in and register for the club.

The club will meet five additional times by Zoom on Mondays, April 5, May 3, June 7, July 12, and Aug. 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. During the virtual gatherings, club members will participate in business meetings run by member-elected club officers, social activities, a service project, a talent and presentation night, and end-of-year recognition. There will also be a drive-through pickup/drop-off night on Tuesday, Aug. 10, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

In addition to club meetings, participants will sign up to complete one or more projects, where they will learn about a specific subject area. Project meetings will be held separately from club meetings. Most project sessions will be held by Zoom, with the possibility of some in-person sessions, to be determined. Some projects have an age requirement/prerequisite and a fee for supplies.

Families should request additional details, which will include the Zoom link for the March 1 meeting and specific project details, before the meeting by emailing volunteer club organizational leader Katina Musser at katmusser@comcast.net.

To complete registration, members must drop off a paper enrollment form and project request form, along with their club dues payment, no later than Monday, March 8; the location for drop-off will be included in the informational email. Youths who paid 4-H dues in 2020 will be exempted from paying the dues fee in 2021. In addition, members must complete a 4-H online enrollment process no later than March 8. No enrollments will be accepted after March 8. All required enrollment pieces must be submitted by the March 8 deadline for members to receive a project assignment.

Anyone who anticipates needing any type of accommodation or who has questions about physical access may contact Musser at 717-314-0620.
