4-H Community Club sets meeting

The Mount Joy 4-H Community Club will hold an organizational meeting and registration on Monday, Feb. 27, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hope Community Church, 1806 Harrisburg Ave., Mount Joy. Attendees should use the back parking lot and enter through the back entrance.

Youths ages 8 to 18 interested in joining the club are invited to attend, along with a parent or guardian, and should plan to stay for the entire time. The event will begin with registration, a project leader meet-and-greet, snack, and an activity for youths from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., followed by an informational meeting and project requests from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. Registration will include completion of paperwork, as well as an online registration process. There are membership fees.

Additional meetings are planned for Mondays, March 27, April 24, May 22, June 26, and Aug. 7. During the meetings, club members will participate in a business meeting, games, service projects, programs and activities, and end-of-year recognition.

In addition to club meetings, participants will sign up to complete one or more projects where they will learn about a specific subject area. Project meetings will be held separately from club meetings, with choices including animal cupcakes, beginner ballet, cake decorating, candy making, canoeing/camping, diamond art, first aid, floral design, foods (cooking), sewing, strawberry growing, and woodworking. Some additional options may be added. Some projects have an additional age requirement or prerequisite and/or fee for supplies.

Club registration will close on Monday, March 6. In the case of inclement weather on Feb. 27, the meeting will be held on March 6.
