5K, fun run, and Field Day for Clean Water set

Londonderry Township and local conservation partners will present the second Conewago Darter 5K and 1-mile fun run, along with a Field Day for Clean Water, in Elizabethtown on Saturday, Oct. 12. Parking for all events is available at 2771 N. Market St.

After registration at 1 p.m., the 5K will begin at 2 p.m., with the fun run at 2:45 p.m. and the award presentation at 3:15 p.m. The new 5K course includes the Conewago Trail and an area where a stream restoration project took place.

Trophies will be presented to the overall male and female champions. Prizes will go to the top two male and female finishers in the following age brackets: 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and up. Participants must be present to receive their awards.

Finish line and timing service will be provided by Applied Race Management Solutions, and the race results will be posted at http://www.appliedracemgmt.com.

The Field Day for Clean Water will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Attendees may learn about the results of the 2024 Conewago Bioblitz, participate in a tree planting in celebration of Riparian Buffer Month, tour the Conewago Creek floodplain restoration, connect with conservation groups to discuss local water quality, and enjoy food from a local food truck.

The event is supported by grant funding from Susquehanna River Basin Commission and Susquehanna Greenway Partnership with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
