5K will benefit African camp

The annual Arm of Hope 5K will be held on Saturday, May 4, at Hope Community Church, 1806 Harrisburg Ave., Mount Joy. Racers may arrive at 8:30 a.m., and the race will begin at 9 a.m.

The Arm of Hope 5K is a fundraising event that benefits Arm of Hope, a ministry that provides food, education and health care to children living in the slums of Accra, Ghana, and introduces them to the love of Jesus Christ.

Proceeds from the 5K will help to send youths to the Arm of Hope 5K summer camp, which is an opportunity that they look forward to all year but could never afford without financial assistance.

Registration for the 5K is by donation only. There is no registration fee. Those who register by Sunday, April 21, will receive a race T-shirt. The course will be easy and mostly flat, and walkers are also welcome.

Homemade baked goods will be awarded as prizes to top finishers in all age categories.

People can register for the race at http://www.armofhopeinghana.org/5k.

The day will also include a chicken barbecue fundraiser. To preorder chicken, visit http://www.armofhopeinghana.org/bbq.
