Heritage Sunday Planned At Boehm's UMC

The Boehm's Chapel Society will hold its Heritage Sunday on June 26 in the 1791 Methodist landmark chapel at Boehm's United Methodist Church (UMC), 13 W. Boehms Road, Willow Street.

The event will begin with a business meeting at 3:30 p.m., followed by a worship service at 4 p.m. During the service, actor Peyton Dixon will portray Bishop Francis Asbury. Dixon has been with the American Historical Theatre since 2001, and he has portrayed historic figures for the Republican National Convention, Independence National Historical Park and the National Archives. He has also appeared in documentaries on A&E and PBS.

The circuit-riding Asbury, known as the father of American Methodism, drove the explosive growth of the denomination in early America. He was a visitor to the farm of Martin Boehm and preached his funeral sermon in the Chapel, which is named for Martin, a founder of the United Brethren Church.

There is no admission charge, but an offering will be received. For more information, call 717-368-3461.
