Medicare Appointments Available

The Lancaster County Office of Aging has announced that assistance will be provided to seniors regarding the upcoming Medicare open enrollment period. Open enrollment will be from Saturday, Oct. 15, to Wednesday, Dec. 7. During open enrollment, people with Medicare can switch Medicare Advantage Plans and Part D Prescription Drug Plans. Changes made during open enrollment will go into effect on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023.

Medicare providers often make yearly changes to cost and coverage, and this year's data will be available starting in October. During the annual open enrollment period, Medicare beneficiaries can meet with a Lancaster County certified PA MEDI volunteer counselor for a free, confidential, and unbiased review of their plan and changes available to them.

People who have Medicare should check their mail for important notices from Medicare or Social Security, and they should note any changes to their health coverage. Seniors should also think about their Medicare coverage needs for 2023 by reviewing their Medicare coverage materials and deciding if their current coverage is sufficient.

Seniors are also encouraged to get personalized help locally. They may contact the Lancaster County Office of Aging PA MEDI to get answers to questions about Medicare, Medicaid, and related health insurance. To make an apointment, seniors may call 717-299-7979. The office is located at 150 N. Queen St., Lancaster, and appointments will also be available at other area locations.
