GEARS plans activities

GEARS will offer several activities to the community. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person cost, with a discounted rate for residents. To register or for more information, visit http://www.getintogears.org or call 717-367-0355.

GEARS will offer pickleball lessons for people age 16 and up at the gym at the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, 996 E. High St., Elizabethtown. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 4, 9 and 11, from noon to 1 p.m. for beginners and from 1 to 2 p.m. for intermediate players. Lessons will cover basic techniques, rules and strategies. All equipment will be provided.

Swim lessons will be available for people age 4 and older on Saturdays, Jan. 6 to Feb. 24, at the Masonic Village Patton Pool, 1244 Bainbridge Road, Elizabethtown. Parent and Child Swimming will be held from 8 to 8:30 a.m. (A) for children age 6 to 24 months and from 8:40 to 9:10 a.m. (B) for children ages 2 to 3. For children ages 4 to 5 years, classes will be Tadpole from 9:20 to 9:50 a.m. and Guppy from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Other classes will be Frog from 10:40 to 11:10 a.m., Seahorse from 11:20 to 11:50 a.m., and Seal/Dolphin/Shark from noon to 12:30 p.m.

Feel Good Yoga, for people age 14 and older of all fitness levels, will be offered from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Jan. 8 to March 4, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 11 to March 7, at Masonic Village Carpenter Chapel, 1244 Bainbridge Road, Elizabethtown. People may attend on one or both days of the week, and there is a discount for those who attend both days. Participants should bring a yoga mat and yoga block.

Power Hour with Lynn will be held on Mondays, Jan. 8 to March 4, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Community Place on Washington, 105 E. Washington St., Elizabethtown. Featuring bodyweight exercises, plyometric drills and weight training, the class is suitable for people of all ages and experience levels.

Hatha Flow Yoga will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 8 to March 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Masonic Village Carpenter Chapel, and on Saturdays, Jan. 6 to March 9, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Community Place on Washington. There will be no class on Saturday, Feb. 24. The class is for people age 14 and up, and no experience is necessary. Options will be provided for more or less intensity throughout the class so that it is tailored to individual participant needs. Participants should wear layers of comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat, strap and block. People may attend one or two days per week, and there is a discount for those who sign up for two or more sessions.
