A Pumpkin Contest With A Twist

To get into the spirit of fall, the Lititz Public Library is holding a virtual pumpkin decorating contest with a twist. The library is asking area residents to decorate or carve a pumpkin to look like a favorite book character or decorate the pumpkin to look funny, scary, or unique.

The contest is open to people of all ages. Entries will be grouped into age categories of children 12 and under, teens ages 13 to 18, and adults over 18. Pumpkins may be decorated by painting, bedazzling, adding pasted paper, or carving. Creativity is encouraged. Each entry should include a nameplate with the photograph. The nameplate must include the artist's first and last name and age category. All participants will receive a prize, and one participant in each age category will receive a Best in Show prize.

Those wishing to take part should email a photo of their decorated pumpkin to register@lititzlibrary.org. The library began accepting entries on Oct. 4, and the deadline for entering and emailing photographs is Friday, Oct. 29. Pumpkin photos will be posted to the library's Facebook page, which can be found by searching for "Lititz Public Library," and on a display in the library.
