A Slam Dunk for Local Flavors

If you're a basketball fan, you've no doubt heard of March Madness. Well, if you're a foodie, get ready for Munch Madness.

The Mount Joy Area Chamber of Commerce will host the first March Munch Madness throughout the month of March, encouraging members of the community to visit participating Chamber establishments, enjoy special offers and collect passport stamps for a chance to win Mount Joy Money.

For the promotion, which began March 2, people may pick up a free March Munch Madness passport at the Chamber office, 62 E. Main St., Mount Joy, or at the Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy.

The passport should be presented with a purchase at each location to receive a stamp. Completed passports must be returned to the Chamber office by Thursday, April 2, to be entered into a drawing for Mount Joy Money.

"The goal of the event is not only to boost business during a traditionally quieter time of year, but also to encourage residents to try someplace new and support local businesses," shared Michele Emenheiser, Chamber executive director.

Rachel Stebbins, Mount Joy's community and economic development coordinator and a Chamber board member, helped spearhead the effort.

"Mount Joy is fortunate to have so many incredible eateries, and we know it can be difficult for restaurants to fully participate in some of our traditional community and Chamber events like Winterfest or Music in the Park," she said. "We wanted to create something designed specifically to showcase our restaurant Chamber members and celebrate what they bring to our community."

Participating members include DiMaria's NY Pizza and Italian Restaurant, Dutch Country Hand-Rolled Soft Pretzels, Grandview Vineyard, Iron Born Bistro, Mosby's Pub, Noel's Cafe, Papa's Pizza, Piper Belles BBQ, Rise Bake Shoppe and Coffee Bar, Rita's of Mount Joy, The Joy of Sweets and Treats, Beanie's Bar & Grill and The Gathering Place.

"This is our first year, and we're thrilled with the turnout," Stebbins remarked. "We're hopeful this will continue to grow and become a fun annual tradition in Mount Joy."

The Mount Joy Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting, educating and supporting businesses and organizations in the Mount Joy area, with a goal to attract new businesses while providing resources and opportunities for existing ones to grow and thrive. With more than 200 members, the Chamber supports a diverse range of businesses, from sole proprietors to larger corporations and nonprofits in and around Mount Joy.

The Chamber also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including the Mount Joy Minnie Groundhog Day event, Music in Memorial Park, Spooktacular and Visits with Santa. Additionally, the Chamber supports local students through scholarships, helping to cultivate the next generation of business leaders.
