Advoz To Offer Trainings

Advoz will offer trainings on mediation and restorative practices.

Conflict, Communication & Culture: Introduction to Mediation & Restorative Practices will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the S. Dale High Leadership Center, 1861 William Penn Way, Lancaster. This course will lay the groundwork for advanced training in mediation and restorative practices and is a prerequisite for all other Advoz training courses. The training aims to help participants develop their own conflict style with collaborative tools to resolve conflict in healthy, effective ways while navigating issues such as hurt and harm, bias and culture, and listening blocks.

Participants must register by Wednesday, Sept. 3, at http://www.advoz.org/training#conflict; no same-day registration will be available.

Basic Mediation Training will take place from Wednesday, Oct. 8, to Friday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lancaster County Community Foundation, 24 W. King St., Lancaster. This training will aim to prepare participants to use effective communication skills and the facilitative mediation structure to help people listen and resolve their own disputes. The course will include conflict resolution skills; listening, reframing, and summarizing; issue identification; practicing the mediation process; coached role play practice with partial and full mediations; co-mediating with a partner; and confidentiality and ethics. The Conflict, Communication & Culture course is required for people to attend this training.
