Age-Friendly Summit set

The United Way of Lancaster County will present an Age-Friendly Summit on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Holiday Inn Lancaster, 26 E. Chestnut St., Lancaster.

Local residents, government officials, changemakers and business leaders will gather to listen and discuss a showcase of age-friendly housing solutions that are supported and promoted by Lancaster's new Comprehensive Plan.

In addition to providing the annual update on the Age-Friendly Action Plan projects, the Summit will highlight a variety of housing options that meet older adults' needs, affordability and preferences that range from aging-in-place to a luxury retirement community.

Plenary and breakout sessions will feature age-friendly housing solutions that are, or could be, part of the community. These include housing repair programs, accessory dwelling units, shared housing, intergenerational living and missing middle housing. Local providers of retirement housing will share the goals, services and parameters of their current and planned communities in Lancaster.

Lunch will be provided.

By bringing together community-based organizations, government leaders, businesses and residents, the Summit aims to offer a cross-sectional platform where attendees can learn from one another and collaboratively create actionable takeaways that participants can apply within their circles of influence.

Age-Friendly Lancaster City is powered by sponsors and in-kind support from the following lead organizations: City of Lancaster, Landis Communities, Lancaster Downtowners, LancasterREC and United Way of Lancaster County.

The summit is free, but registration is required. For more information and to register, visit http://www.eventbrite.com and search for "Age-Friendly Summit 2023."
