American Idol Contestant To Perform At Wesley Church Event

Community members of all ages are invited to Wesley Church in Quarryville for Undivided, a free event featuring music and a message. Taking place on Wednesday, June 15, from 2 to 9 p.m., the event will be headlined by American Idol contestant Colton Dixon.

Undivided originated last year as the idea of Wesley Church youth director Nathaniel Lacy. After seeing how much division was being generated during the COVID-19 pandemic, he wanted a way to reunite the community, particularly youths.

"(Lacy) just really wanted to get young adults together to have a time of worship, have a speaker and have an artist. It's really a community outreach," said worship director Craig Deibler, who is organizing the event along with Lacy. "Wesley Church is hosting it, but it's not for Wesley Church. We're putting this on for the community and beyond."

Undivided was a great success last year, even though rain forced the event indoors. Organziers hope that the weather will be better this time.

On the day of the event, a wide range of food will be available for purchase from food trucks that will be on-site from 2 to 5 p.m. There will also be plenty of free, water-themed activities such as a water slide and a dunk tank.

Entertainment and the message of the day will begin at 5 p.m. The evening's speaker will be Bob Lenz, who will address the subject of bullying. Lenz presents a program titled "Dignity Revolution" at middle schools and high schools, but in this environment, he will include the faith component of his message.

Tom Coverly, an illusionist, will perform, followed by Dixon, the featured singer-songwriter, who placed seventh on the 11th season of American Idol. He will bring a message in his Christian music.

"We're certainly inviting all ages. The speaker and the artist will be geared more toward youths," Deibler said, "(but) parents are welcome to stay and enjoy it, too. There are plenty of adults that need to hear what's being spoken about. It's definitely for the whole community."

Admission to Undivided is free. The event will be held rain or shine. Wesley Church is located at 1104 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville. For more information, call 717-786-8322 or visit http://www.wesleyqville.org or http://www.facebook.com/wesleychurchinqville.
