American Legion Auctions Blanket, Plans Ceremony

At the 62nd annual Antiques, Art, Craft, and Collectibles Show held on May 26, members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 809 auctioned off a handmade afghan created by Nila Grose. Maytown resident Alexis Bortner won the blanket. The auction raised $175, which will be used to purchase clothing and gifts for a resident of the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The public is invited to a ceremony on Saturday, June 28, at 10 a.m. in Maytown Square to honor a Maytown resident who is a field medic in the Army. She will be presented with a quilt of valor hand-stitched by the Red Rose Quilters Guild. The ceremony will include remarks and the reading of a poem. The service member's name has not been released to the public because the presentation will be a surprise.
