Applications sought for leadership program

Leadership Chester County (LCC) is accepting applications for its 2024-25 program. The leadership development course is designed to cultivate and empower emerging leaders, providing them with the essential skills and knowledge to positively impact their communities through activities such as serving on nonprofit boards. The program will convene one full weekday each month from October to May, and a limited number of spots are available. The application deadline is Monday, Sept. 30.

LCC's curriculum includes topics such as civic engagement, community development, collaboration, and effective communication. Speakers, community leaders, and subject matter experts will offer insights, experiences, and strategies for successful leadership. Graduates return to their organizations equipped with enhanced leadership and entrepreneurial skills, along with a deeper understanding of the local socioeconomic landscape and new competencies in management, planning, and strategic thinking. Nonprofit board placement assistance helps each LCC graduate identify community organizations that match his or her interests, passions, and skills.

LCC seeks applicants from diverse professional backgrounds, including nonprofit organizations, government agencies, private corporations, and educational institutions. Ideal candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to community service, a desire for personal and professional growth, and a vision for the future of Chester County.

Administered and facilitated by United Way of Chester County and in partnership with West Chester University and the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry, the LCC program has a history spanning 23 years. Through the support of 146 sponsors, 560 people have graduated the program and gone on to serve 435 nonprofits as board or staff members.
