Arts center to celebrate children's books

The Eicher Arts Center in Ephrata Borough's Grater Park, 409 Cocalico St., will host a celebration of children's literature on Saturday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children and their families are invited to attend.

Attendees may view nine trees fancifully decorated by members of the Eicher Arts Center, the Ephrata Garden Club and the Ephrata Women's Club in ways inspired by acclaimed books for young readers. Families may also visit the historic Eicher House to read the books that inspired the trees' decorations and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies. Craftmaking opportunities will be available for children of various ages.

In addition, Pamela S. Gockley, an author and activist against bullying, will be on hand to sell and sign copies of her book "A Blaze of Kindness: Slinky and Laptop's Backyard Adventures." Gockley is the founder of the Camel Project, a nonprofit group dedicated to preventing bullying and the harm bullying can produce.

Admission to the celebration is free.
