Arts Festival Planned In Hummelstown

Celebrating 40 years, Hummelstown's Arts Festival is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, along the borough's Main Street.

The festival will feature more than 150 juried artists, a food court and a children's area. Music will be provided all day by DJ Bill Runkle, and a wide variety of other entertainers will perform throughout the day.

The children's area will have a variety of free crafts and activities for children of all ages, including balloon art, sandy candy, balloon yo-yos, face painting by students from Lower Dauphin High School's National Art Honor Society, and crafts and activities by the Hummelstown Recreational Board and the Hummelstown Emergency Management Agency. Additionally, local Boy Scouts will display its Lego race track, and the Dauphin County Library will bring its mobile outreach vehicle, MARCO, to the event.

Proceeds from this annual fundraiser go toward college scholarships and efforts to promote art in the Lower Dauphin community. Each year, the Robert M. Nisley Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Lower Dauphin seniors who have exhibited excellent character and have been accepted into a degree program to major or minor in the visual arts or the performing arts, including music.

For safety reasons, no dogs, skateboards or bicycles will be permitted during the festival.
