ASPIE to open art gallery

ASPIE has announced the grand opening of its brick-and-mortar gallery at 1905 Barton Drive, Lancaster. The opening will take place on Friday, June 9, from 2 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, June 11, from noon to 5 p.m. Attendees will have opportunities to talk to the artists.

ASPIE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating supplemental income for adult artisans with disabilities. The organization serves people with autism, Asperger's syndrome, traumatic brain injuries, dystonia, cerebral palsy, and other disabilities, but who have creative talent and skills. ASPIE helps these artisans generate income through donations for their original artwork using the online ASPIE Gallery at http://www.aspieartists.com. ASPIE will now expand to an in-person gallery.

The new in-person gallery will feature artworks by Jesse Buckwalter, Jon Whitlock, Dorrin Gingerich, JP Henry, Kate Manners, Steven Georges, and others. Items will include paintings, photographic prints, metal sculptures, jewelry, wooden toys, and crafts.
