Astronomy programs set

The York County Astronomical Society (YCAS) will offer two events at its observatory at John C. Rudy County Park, 400 Mundis Race Road, York, on Saturday, April 15. All events are open to the public.

"Solar and Radio Astronomy" will be presented by Kerry Smith from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., including a discussion of YCAS' radio astronomy endeavors. Attendees will also be able to view the sun through the society's solar telescope, as well as view it remotely on a screen that will be hooked up to a telescope.

A telescope clinic will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. The program will feature "How to Buy an Astronomical Telescope" as well as technical assistance from members on how to use a telescope. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own telescopes for assistance.

If the weather is clear, all activities will occur as scheduled. If it is completely cloudy or raining, the indoor activity of a screened astronomical presentation will occur as scheduled. In the event of extreme weather, call 717-759-9227 for notice of cancellation or visit the York County Astronomical Society's page on Facebook.
