Audubon Society posts activities

Quittapahilla Audubon Society (QAS) has posted its upcoming events, which are suitable for people of all ages and are open to the public with no registration or fee. For more information, visit http://www.qasaudubon.org.

The group will hold its Christmas social on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 723 Lehman St., Lebanon. The social gathering will start at 6:30 p.m., with the program following at 7 p.m. QAS members will share their favorite slides and digital photos. Attendees are asked to bring a plate of holiday treats to share. Attendees should enter the church from the parking lot that is located behind the church off Spruce Street.

On Saturday, Dec. 16, QAS will conduct its 44th annual Christmas Bird Count. The event includes walking and driving to count birds within prescribed areas. To learn more, contact Fritz Heilman at 717-273-0487.

Community members may join QAS on Monday, Jan. 1, to kick off the new year with a winter bird walk. Participants should meet at 9 a.m. at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center parking lot next to the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail. For more information, call leader Jim Fiorentino at 717-269-0675.

On Tuesday, Jan. 2, a group will go to the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area for a second walk to start the new year. Attendees should meet at the Visitors Center at 9 a.m. For more details, call Fiorentino.
