Award Nominations Sought

The Chester County Single Mothers' Conference invites local residents to nominate an outstanding single mother for the Belinda R. Harrison Award. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, July 8, at http://www.singlemotherscc.org.

The Belinda R. Harrison Award honors a working single mom who has overcome adversity and is active in her community. Belinda Harrison was a single mother who worked for years in Chester County's social services and in her community, dedicating her life to empowering women and the underserved.

This year's award winner will be announced and honored at the 10th annual Chester County Single Mothers' Conference, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Westside Community Center, 430 Hannum Ave., West Chester. The venue offers easy access to parking and public transportation.

Organized by the Chester County Community Collaborative and sponsored for an eighth consecutive year by Benchmark Federal Credit Union, the conference is open to all single mothers, such as women who are divorced, widowed, or raising grandchildren. Admission, child care and lunch are free. The event's theme is "Honor the Past, Treasure the Present, Shape the Future."

The Chester County Single Mothers' Conference seeks to encourage, educate and empower single moms whose role is the main provider for their family. For the first time, this year's conference will be split into two half-day sessions to provide more flexibility for attendees. Each session will include a resource fair, workshops, guest speakers and pampering.

For more information on the conference, visit http://www.singlemotherscc.org or follow @SingleMothersCC on Facebook and Instagram. The event hashtag is #SingleMothersCC.

The Chester County Community Collaborative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created by a collection of nonprofit agencies and independent interests working for the betterment of single mothers in the local area.
