Beethoven Concert Series To Conclude

The Arts at Millersville University will present pianist Xun Pan in the final concert of the multiseason series Beethoven's 250th Birthday Celebration. "Beethoven's Last Three Piano Sonatas" will take place on Friday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Steinman Hall in the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster. Repertoire for this concert will be Piano Sonata No. 30 in E Major, Op. 109; Piano Sonata No. 31 in A-flat, Op. 110; and Piano Sonata No. 32 in C Minor, Op. 111.

2020 marked the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, and this concert marks the finale of Pan's quest to commemorate the composer's legacy. This feat included all of the composer's 32 piano sonatas, along with 10 piano and violin sonatas, five piano and cello sonatas and three variations. While the concerts scheduled in Europe had to be canceled, Pan, in partnership with violinist Simon Maurer and cellist Emilio Colón, have completed the performance of all 50 works. Pan is Millersville University's Tell School of Music director of keyboard studies.
