Benefit 5K, Fun Run/Walk Posted

Home International will hold its first Benefit 5K Race & Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 20. The event will be held at the Cocalico High School Eagles football stadium, 700 S. Fourth St., Denver, which is located behind the Denver Elementary School. The community event will benefit the Welcome Home Initiative, the local outreach of Home International Inc. that helps women and children in need.

Registration and number pickup will begin at 8 a.m. The 5K race will start at 9 a.m., followed by the 1-mile fun run/walk at 9:45 a.m. Participants may either run or walk the wheel-measured 5K course on mostly level farmland and the back roads behind the high school. Refreshments will be provided. The fun run/walk is a 1-mile portion of the same course.

For the fun run/walk, runners and walkers of all ages are invited to participate. The course is stroller and wheelchair accessible. Participants are invited to get sponsors and raise money for the cause.

There will be awards for the overall 5K male and female winners, plus three male and three females winners for various age brackets. No awards will be presented for the untimed fun run/walk.
