Big Brothers Big Sisters announces expansion

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region (BBBSCR) has expanded its service area, broadening its reach from five to seven counties through the acquisition of the BBBS York & Adams Counties affiliate. To align with its new service region, BBBSCR is changing its name to Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA.

The nonprofit's one-to-one mentoring programs are grounded in evidence-based practices aimed at helping young people develop the skills and confidence needed to navigate life's challenges. The recent expansion is part of the organization's commitment to ensure young people have access to the guidance, encouragement, and positive role models needed for their development and success.

A ribbon cutting was held at the York office on Oct. 23 at its new address, 227 W. Market St., Suite 104, York.

As part of the transition, BBBS of South-Central PA will update its logo, website, and marketing materials. The changes will be rolled out over the next few months.

The expansion was made possible by the Powder Mill Foundation, Warehime Foundation, and Adams County Community Foundation, as well as BBBS' partners, donors and supporters.

United Way of Adams County, United Way of York County, and York County Community Foundation continue to support the mission of BBBS and the organization's programs in York and Adams counties.

BBBS of South-Central PA is seeking additional volunteers, partners, and supporters to help sustain and enhance its expanded services. To learn more, visit http://www.capbigs.org or search for @bbbscapregion on social media.
