Birding program posted

Susquehanna National Heritage Area (SNHA) will host a program, "Beginner Birding on the Susquehanna River," on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Zimmerman Center for Heritage, 1706 Long Level Road, Wrightsville. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and light refreshments will be available.

Sarah Gotwols will share about birding opportunities on the lower Susquehanna River. Topics will include the Atlantic Flyway and the Conejohela Flats.

Gotwols is a Lancaster County native with a passion for nature conservation. She has spent extensive time on land and water learning about the birds and environment along the Susquehanna River. Gotwols leads educational walks on birding as a volunteer with the Lancaster Conservancy and serves as an officer on the board of the Lancaster County Bird Club.

This event is a part of the RiverRoots LIVE! Lecture Series, which expands on SNHA's RiverRoots blog. Since 2020, SNHA has been sharing York and Lancaster County heritage on the blog. In the lectures, guest speakers and SNHA staff members explore the history, ecology, and culture of the Susquehanna National Heritage Area.
