Blood Drive, Quilting Event Posted

The Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank (CPBB) will hold a community blood drive at Fairmount in Ephrata on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The blood drive will be held in the Farm Crest Community Room at 1100 Farm Crest Drive on the east side of the Fairmount campus.

Those who wish to donate may schedule an appointment by calling 800-771-0059. Walk-ins are also welcome until 6 p.m., but those with scheduled appointments will be given priority. Donors should bring a photo ID. The CPBB will offer various giveaways to anyone who comes to donate.

Current CDC recommendations make masking for donors and staff optional. Masks will be provided for anyone who wishes to wear one.

Additionally, Fairmount will hold its annual Quilting Days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11; Tuesday, Feb. 14; and Wednesday, Feb. 15. People of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced quilters, are invited to participate on one or more days.

Between 10 and 15 quilts will be set up for participants to work on in the Farm Crest Community Room. The doors will open at 8 a.m. each morning, and quilting will continue throughout the afternoon. Refreshments and a noon lunch will be served to volunteers daily.

Donations of quilts, quilt tops, or funds to cover the cost of quilt supplies are also welcome. The quilts produced during Quilting Days will be sold at Fairmount's annual Benefit Auction and Chicken Barbecue in September. For more information, call 717-354-1800.
