Boettcher House Concert Series To Kick Off

It has been a few years since concerts were held on the grounds of Boettcher House Museum. Logistical issues in 2019 made it impossible to hold the concerts, and then COVID-19 restrictions caused the cancellation of the 2020 summer concerts. Now, Patti Beaumont, president of the board of the Boettcher House Museum, is happy to announce that the free concerts will return.

"People can't wait (to attend)," said Patti. "The groups want to play," she shared, noting that the 2021 season schedule came together quickly. "I love the Boettcher House," she said. "We will have a full schedule." As in the past, concerts will be held outside at Boettcher House, located in Landis Woods at 2369 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, on Saturdays and Sundays. Attendees are encouraged to bring folding chairs and blankets.

Local musical group TJ Earley will perform at the kickoff event at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 31. Penny's Ice Cream truck will be present beginning at 2 p.m., and the first 60 guests will receive free ice cream.

TJ Earley includes Tom Castner, John Beaumont, and Aimee Earley. "We rejoined musical forces after our original band, WoodSong, decided to pursue other endeavors," said John, who happens to be Patti's husband and a Boettcher House volunteer. "We share a love of folk, blues, soft rock, and original music." Castner is an accomplished lead guitarist using a synth guitar system. Beaumont handles rhythm guitar and vocals, and Earley is a classically trained cellist and a vocalist.

On Sunday, Aug. 1, Fire in the Glen will perform at 5:30 p.m. Known for energetic performances of lively Irish, Scottish, and Maritime music that encourages audiences to clap and sing along, Fire in the Glen plays fiddle tunes, pub songs, and the occasional ballad. Founder Tom Knapp serves as fiddler and bodhranist. Amanda Wells plays guitar and percussion, and Rod Nevin plays Highland bagpipes, Scottish smallpipes, pennywhistle, and ukulele; both also sing.

Abigail's Garden will return to Boettcher House for a concert on Saturday, Aug. 7, at 5:30 p.m. The trio has set a goal of engaging all ages with their expressions of music and to have fun while doing so. The group's repertoire includes Irish music, both vocal and instrumental, along with folk songs, classics, and originals. Members include Laurie Haines Reese on cello and electric cello; Tish Brown on ukulele, fiddle, piano, and vocals; and Renee Heiser Lentz on vocals, guitar, and piano.
