Boys invited to learn about Scouting

The Boy Scouts of America's Pennsylvania Dutch Council invites local youths to learn about Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA at an event on Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church, 3716 Main St., Conestoga.

The event will offer an opportunity for boys in kindergarten through fifth grade to learn about Cub Scout Pack 146 and for boys ages 11 to 17 to learn about Troop 146. Attendees will be able to join Scouting. Anyone who cannot attend the event is welcome to join at any time.

During the school year, Pack 146 will meet on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. at Bethel EC Church. Den-level meetings will be determined by the dens. Cub Scouts will have opportunities to participate in STEM activities, shooting sports, hiking, camping, skits, service projects and more.

Cub Scouting seeks to nurture leadership and character growth, strengthen families, help children develop interests and skills, provide adventure and offer opportunities for fellowship. The program is volunteer-driven and encourages parent involvement.

Troop 146 will meet on Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Bethel EC Church. In Scouts BSA, service, community engagement and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youths lead their own activities and work their way toward attaining Scouting's highest rank, Eagle Scout.
