Brandywine Hills Point-To-Point Set For April 3

The running of the 79th Brandywine Hills Point-to-Point will take place on Sunday, April 3, at the Myrick Conservation Center, 1760 Unionville Wawaset Road, West Chester. The annual event is an opportunity to see steeplechase racing, including as many as 17 jumps, over a 318-acre property overlooking the scenery of southern Chester County. In addition to the chance to watch the horses and riders traverse the course, there will be a number of activities for children.

The gates will open at 11 a.m., and the races will begin at noon. Children's activities will run from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be a photo booth, Lenape Lore activities, a planting table, glitter tattoos and jewelry making.

Events for youths will include the lead line and stick pony races. Even children as young as 3 years old are invited to race to a finish line riding their own stick ponies. There will be two divisions: ages 4 and 5 and 6 to 8.

The lead line pony races will begin at 1:15 p.m. As part of this event, children will ride their ponies, and the parents will lead them along a short course for a prize. Shortly after the youth races will be the Radnor Hunt foxhound parade.

The adult Ladies Race will take place at 1:45 p.m. after the parade of hounds followed by the Amateur Apprentice race at 2:15 p.m., the Novice Race at 2:45 p.m. and the Open Race at 3:15 p.m. The Foxhunter's Race will close out the day at 3:45 p.m.

Visitors are invited to purchase tickets for chances two win prizes that range from artwork and restaurant gift cards to tickets for other horse events, including Devon Horse Show box seats. The presenting sponsor of the Brandywine Hills Point-to-Point races is the Radnor Hunt Foxhunters & The Hounds Foundation. Food will be available on-site for purchase from Saloon 151.

The H.E. Myrick Conservation Center is the headquarters of the Brandywine Red Clay Alliance (BRC). A private property that is open to the public during daylight hours, the center is in Pocopson Township along Route 842, 6 miles west of West Chester and 3 miles east of Unionville.
