BridgeWay House to host Community Day

The BridgeWay House, an addiction recovery facility located at 720 Buck Run Road, Coatesville, will host Community Day on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 1 to 8 p.m.

Members of the public are invited to attend to meet some of the residents of BridgeWay House and learn about other resources for addiction support. The event will also include music provided by a DJ, food trucks, a basket giveaway drawing, and a silent auction. The property is home to chickens, a turkey, a donkey, llamas, and goats, and attendees will have opportunities to meet the farm animals.

All proceeds from this event will help defray the costs of renovating a barn on the property. Called Joey's Barn, the building is named after a man who died of a fentanyl heroin overdose in April 2022. Joey struggled with addiction for eight years and was sober the last two before he relapsed.

Joey's Barn will serve as a meeting and gathering place offering Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, education programs, family support, and therapy sessions. The facility will provide opportunities to BridgeWay residents to build community and support each other on their journey of sobriety. As of July 10, $62,000 had been raised toward the barn renovation, and an additional $75,000 was needed.
