Campaign Kickoff Meeting Planned

Crispus Attucks York will hold a kickoff meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 3 p.m. for the capital campaign of its new Crispus Attucks History and Culture Center of York County, to be located at 513-543 S. Court St., York. The Crispus Attucks History and Culture Center will celebrate, preserve, and teach the living history and traditions of African Americans in greater York and beyond, with the aim of bringing diverse communities together through the combined narratives of artistic, cultural, and historical treasures in order to enhance understanding among people.

The center will explore, document, and showcase the African American story and impact on York city as well as African Americans' place in and contributions to the country's history. Through the vision, voices, creativity, and perspectives of African Americans in York County, the center will educate the public on York's history of slavery, segregation, civil unrest, social injustice, and activism in order to aim toward change and cultivate a better future. It will also be used as a meeting space where community members may gather, build relationships, strengthen bonds, and learn about themselves and each other.
