CAP cadet presents to legislators

A cadet member of Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Jesse Jones Squadron 304 in Lancaster recently helped brief legislative leaders on the benefits of the CAP cadet program.

Cadet 2nd Lt. Aaron Keohane of Pequea was selected to participate in Legislative Day in Washington, D.C., as an ambassador of CAP to address the members of the U.S. House of Representatives about the benefits of CAP to local communities, the country, and the cadets who participate in the program. The benefits to cadets include education and training in leadership, aerospace, science and technology, and physical fitness, as well as promoting service to community and the nation. After returning home, Keohane gave a presentation to the other members of his squadron about his experiences at National Legislative Day.

Keohane recently earned his Billy Mitchell Award and was assigned the alpha flight commander staff position in his squadron. As a cadet member of CAP, Keohane has attended Basic Encampment and the Leadership Development Course; has participated in search and rescue exercises as well as orientation flights in both powered and glider aircraft; and has received his Crises Service Award. After high school, Keohane would like to pursue a career in law enforcement or aviation.

Jesse Jones Squadron 304 meets at 7 p.m. each Monday except holidays in the Venture Jets hangar, which is located at the Lancaster Airport near the intersection of Lititz Pike and Millport Road. Visitors are welcome.
