CAP Squadron Assists At Events

Cadets from Jesse Jones Composite Squadron 304 of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) recently volunteered at the Labor Day Auction benefiting Hospice & Community Care as well as the Community Days Air Show at Lancaster Airport.

The Labor Day Auction was held on Sept. 3 and 5 at the Solanco Fairgrounds in Quarryville. This event is held annually to raise funds for providing hospice services, palliative care, and bereavement support services to the community. The cadets assisted with parking for vendors and patrons.

At the biannual Community Days Air Show on Sept. 17 and 18, the adult and cadet members helped with parking and flight line security. Lancaster Squadron 304 was assisted by Capital City Composite Squadron 302, Reading Composite Squadron 811, and Lebanon Composite Squadron 307. Cadets and senior members from each of the squadrons worked together as a team with local law enforcement and emergency services to provide support for the event.

For his efforts in organizing and executing CAP's support at the air show, Lt. Col. Glenn C. Baugher of Lancaster was presented with the Civil Air Patrol Achievement Award on Sept. 26 by Group 2 commander Lt. Colonel Larry Forster.

Helping at events is one of many services that Jesse Jones Squadron 304 provides to the community. Service to the community, state, and nation is a primary part of the cadet programs within CAP.

Jesse Jones Squadron 304 meets at 7 p.m. each Monday, except holidays, in the Venture Jets hangar, which is located at Lancaster Airport near the intersection of Lititz Pike and Millport Road. Visitors are welcome.
