CEDC Presents Business Grants

The Columbia Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) has announced that Lancaster Distilleries and Columbia School of Music are the winners of the 2022 Columbia Business Facade Grants. Each business received $1,000 to improve the appearance of its building. Bill Kloidt, executive director of the CEDC, stated that this is the first year the organization offered façade improvement grants to Columbia businesses.

Lancaster Distilleries received funds for 230 N. Fourth St. The company will soon manufacture its product at this site, with additional plans to open a bicycle repair and rental shop.

Columbia School of Music is located at 401 Walnut St. The school offers students the opportunity to learn to sing, play any instrument, write music, and join or start a band or ensemble.

The CEDC will again offer two types of business grants in 2023. The first grant will be for business enhancement, such as website design or promotional or adverting initiatives, and the second grant will be for façade improvements.

Two $1,000 grants will be awarded in each category. Visit http://www.columbia-edc.org to apply. Grant applications opened on Jan. 2 and must be submitted by Wednesday, March 1. Decisions will be announced on Saturday, April 1.
