Celebrate Christmas At Poole Forge

Caroling, children's crafts, a display of holiday trees and decorations, a Christmas Marketplace and an opportunity to tour the newly renovated 18th-century Ironmaster's Mansion will be featured as Historic Poole Forge presents "Christmas at the Ironmaster's."

The holiday attraction will open with self-guided illuminated tours on Friday, Dec. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will continue on Saturday, Dec. 4, from noon to 8 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 5, from noon to 5 p.m.

On Dec. 4, there will be a traditional Welsh bonfire, caroling and a children's craft. Photos with Santa in his sleigh will be available on Dec. 5, and there will be a food truck on-site throughout the weekend, as well as a sale of homemade refreshments.

"There will be live music in the mansion, including harpsichord and harp music on Saturday afternoon," noted Dawn Ekdahl, Poole Forge executive director.

Local nonprofit organizations and businesses will decorate holiday trees and exhibits throughout the site. Visitors will be able to vote for their favorite, and the winner will be issued the People's Choice Award.

Members of the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society decorated the 1859 covered bridge and gazebo with Christmas lights that will remain lit during the holiday season. "With the covered bridge lit and decorated, as well as the new walking bridge and wishing well, we are the community's favorite location for family photos," Ekdahl noted.

Three floors of the mansion will be decorated and open to tour. The Paymaster's House and the West Tenant House will be open with craft and gift vendors as part of a Christmas Marketplace. Vendors will sell items such as gift baskets, dog treats, photographs and prints, floral gifts, custom embroidery and bee products. Vendors will include Long's Horseradish of Lancaster and Thirty-One.

Other participants will include Goodville Mutual Casualty Company, New Holland; Country Companion Animal Hospital, Morgantown; Painted Table Designs, Elverson; Cricket's Antiques, Glenmoore; Churchtown Therapeutic Massage; Bangor Episcopal Church, Narvon; Lickity Split, New Holland; Chester County Solid Waste Authority, Narvon; RV Industries, Morgantown; the Village Library of Morgantown; Honey Brook Community Library; the Covered Bridge Society; Village Lockesmith Hair Studio, Narvon; and Morgantown Market.
