Ceremony Planned At Veterans Memorial At Greenwood

A Veterans Day wreath laying and ceremony will take place at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Greenwood Cemetery, South Queen Street, Lancaster, on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. The event, to be held rain or shine, is sponsored by Chapter 1008 of the Vietnam Veterans of America and Associates of Lancaster. The public is invited to attend.

The memorial was erected to honor the Lancaster County Vietnam veterans and one civilian who gave their lives in service to the U.S. Memories of the soldiers and civilian who are honored on the memorial will be shared during the ceremony. Family members and friends are welcome to participate. Guest senators have also indicated they plan to attend.

Chapter 1008 will also rededicate the memorial monument, which was recently restored, and dedicate a new contributor's stone, honoring Charles Snyder Funeral Home, Dennis Funk & Sons, Rohrer's Concrete, and Sauder Bros. for their help in restoring the monument. The memorial and grounds are maintained by Chapter 1008.

Chapter 1008 meets at noon at the Pheasant Ridge Community Center, 209 Longwood Court, Lancaster, every third Wednesday of the month. All Vietnam-era veterans and spouses, friends, and supporters are welcome to attend.
