The Mike Herman Memorial Chicken Barbecue will take place on Saturday, June 12, from noon to 2 p.m., with pickup at Community Bible Church, 331 Anderson Ferry Road, Marietta. The cost of a meal will include a half-chicken, two sides and beverage.

Proceeds will benefit the Marietta fireworks, a Fourth of July tradition organized entirely by volunteers. Mike Herman, in whose honor the barbecue is being held, enjoyed setting off fireworks for more than 20 years before his death in 2018. This year's show will be held on Saturday, July 3.
