The Mennonite Children's Choir of Lancaster (MCCL) has announced its Christmas concert series, "O Come, Emmanuel!" Concerts will take place on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at Lancaster Alliance Church, 210 Pitney Road, Lancaster; Saturday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. at Neffsville Mennonite Church, 2371 Lititz Pike, Lancaster; and Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3:30 p.m. at Historic St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster.

Carren Moham, renowned soprano soloist and cousin of Marian Anderson, will join the choir for several classical and gospel selections by composers such as G. F. Handel, Uzee Brown Jr., and Andre Thomas. The concerts will begin with pieces centered on anticipation, including the Pentatonix arrangement of "O Come, All Ye Faithful." Then the performers will present the proclamation of the Good News, including settings of traditional songs "Gaudete" and "A La Nanita Nana," and finally, issue a joyful challenge through the texts of Dan Forrest's "The Work of Christmas" and Caldwell and Ivory's "Hope for Resolution."

MCCL celebrates and honors music as a gift from God by seeking to create exceptional choral music, foster community, and develop discipline. The choir's mission is training children and youths to glorify Jesus Christ through excellent choral singing. More than 160 singers representing 55 congregations, 42 schools, and 15 denominations participate in MCCL's programs. The performing choirs, for those in grades two through 12, are led by artistic director Rosemary Siegrist Blessing with directors Sarah Wingard and Galen Kauffman. MCCL is a community children's choir program of Lancaster Mennonite School, serving children and youths from Lancaster, Chester, York, and Berks counties.
