Choir, organ concerts planned

Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 S. Mt. Joy St., Elizabethtown, will offer two concerts in the church sanctuary. The events are free and open to the public.

The traveling youth choir of Grove United Methodist Church in West Chester will present "Sharing the Love of God Through Music!" on Friday, June 21, at 7 p.m. The group, consisting of 10 youths ages 13 to 18, will present 17 selections. The program will feature traditional, contemporary, and international music, including "Turn the World Around," "My Lighthouse," "Come to the Table," and "How Great Is Our God with How Great Thou Art."

Abbie Wood, an award-winning organist from York, will perform on Friday, June 28, at 7 p.m. The program will include music by Carl Haywood, J.S. Bach, Dan Locklair, Felix Mendelssohn, John Williams, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Charles-Marie Widor. Light refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the performance.

Wood is a senior organ performance major at Syracuse University, the organist at University United Methodist Church in Syracuse and a substitute organist at various churches during academic breaks.
