Church Installs New Pastor

Union Presbyterian Church, 5637 Street Road, Kirkwood, installed its new and first EPC pastor, Jeremy Peterson, on May 22.

The road for Union to find a new pastor was a long one, and various pastors filled in during the three-year search process. Pastors assisting the church included Elaine Swinehart, Todd Brown, Mick Chase and Tom Chase. The Rev. Scott Phillips also served as an interim pastor. Phillips is a Quarryville native and served the church for a year and a half while the session of Union prayed and interviewed various candidates.

Peterson comes to Union from West Grove, where he lives with his wife, Carla, and their two young children. He lived in the Kennett area while growing up and attended Unionville High School. He continued his education at Cairn University, obtaining a Master of Divinity in 2020. Peterson was an assistant pastor at Kennett Square Presbyterian Church before his installation at Union Presbyterian Church.

Each Sunday, Union Presbyterian Church holds Sunday school at 9 a.m. and a worship service at 10 a.m.
