Church Plans Christmas Programs

Church of the Apostles United Church of Christ (UCC), 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, invites the community to celebrate Christmas at its upcoming events.

A Children's Christmas Celebration will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. The event will include a short, kid-friendly Christmas service; games and crafts; cookies and hot cocoa; and a visit from Santa. Registration is encouraged.

Carols of Comfort and Hope, an online service, will be available to stream on Facebook and YouTube beginning Monday, Dec. 15. The service will be available on demand throughout the season for those who may experience grief, loneliness, or tension during the holidays or for anyone who appreciates a quieter, more reflective worship experience. The service will offer music, Scripture, and space for peace and healing.

A Christmas Hymn Sing will take place on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 3 p.m. Music director Lars Potteiger will lead attendees in singing carols. The hymn sing will be followed by light refreshments provided by the church's adult choir.

The church's traditional Christmas Eve services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 24. A service with Communion will take place at 3 p.m., and a candlelight service will take place at 7 p.m. Both services will include Scripture, music, and a message of hope and love.
