Church plans Good Friday concert

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, will perform John Stainer's "The Crucifixion" on Good Friday, March 29, at 7 p.m. The performance will feature new orchestration written by Barry Rose and performed by 15 instrumentalists, along with Frank Dodd, Westminster's director of music and organist.

Well-known soloists Timothy Bentch and Steven Condy will join the Westminster Sanctuary Choir for the event. Bentch, a tenor, performed opera roles in prominent venues in Hungary for over a decade. Co-founder of the Crescendo Summer Institute in Hungary, he currently sings, teaches, and devotes time to pastoral ministry. Condy, a bass, has amassed a repertoire of more than 40 roles. He currently teaches students and co-directs Opera Theater at Cairn University near Philadelphia. Both soloists performed at Westminster in last season's "Messiah" sing-along and at other events.

There is no charge for the concert, but a freewill offering will be received to support the church's music program. For more information, visit http://www.westpca.com/music or call the church office at 717-569-2151. Westminster is handicapped-accessible and can accommodate buses.
