St. Peter's Lutheran Church and St. Peter's Preschool began a community service project in October 2022 to benefit Thrive and Grit, a program started by some St. Peter's Preschool staff members after the loss of a family member to breast cancer. Thrive and Grit aids the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute.

The church and preschool collected items, which were sorted into more than 100 goodie bags for patients undergoing cancer treatment. The items were delivered to Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute in mid-December 2022.

The church and preschool will continue to collect items for Thrive and Grit, and community members may drop off items at any time. The church is located at 10 Delp Road, Lancaster.
