Church sets community picnic

Jerusalem Church in Penryn will hold its annual community picnic, which it has hosted since the 1800s, on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Penryn Church Grove on Picnic Grove Road.

Chicken corn soup will be available for takeouts from 8 a.m. until sold out, and attendees should bring their own quart containers.

In the evening, community members may return for an old-fashioned family event featuring food and live music.

A meal will be available beginning at 4 p.m., and table service will be available. The menu will include the church's homemade chicken corn soup, hamburgers and hot dogs, cakes, pies, ice cream, and drinks. All profits from the sale of food will go toward updating and renovating the picnic grove area.

Attendees may bring lawn chairs and sit under the trees to enjoy live music beginning at 4:30 p.m. Lancaster Marimba Ensemble and the Moonlighters will perform.
